About

March 12, 2009

Originally from Liverpool, Danny finally overcame a lifetime of stage fright (induced by being told off as a child at a drama class for taking two biscuits instead of one at break-time) to perform stand-up comedy for the first time at the Classic Comedy Club at the end of 2007.

After a handful of open-mic slots, he made it to the final of the RAW Comedy Quest at the NZ International Comedy Festival in May 2008. He was also nominated as ‘best newcomer’ by his peers at the NZ Comedy Guild Awards at the end of 2008.

This newish face on the NZ comedy scene featured at the 2009 NZ International Comedy Festival in an exciting new, sold-out show called ‘Full English’. The show ran again for two nights at the Classic Studio and a one-off show at the Fringe Bar in Wellington; again both shows sold out. Full English 2 made a triumphant return to the 2010 NZ International Comedy Festival.

More recently, Full English was taken to the Hamilton and Adelaide Fringe Festivals.
Danny was also featured in part of the Stand Up documentary which was released at the 2011 NZ Documentary Festival. The documentary was nominated for Best NZ feature and Best Director.

In 2011, Danny returned with his first solo show at the NZ International Comedy Festival, A Theory Of Everything. The show ran for 6 nights and was given a sparkling review by TVNZ which can be read here

Danny is heading back to the sunny UK in mid-2012 to further his comedy career and will be appearing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August. More details to follow. In the meantime, thanks for reading. This is the end of this bit now.
